How I Got Started

So let me tell you a bit about my photography journey. I'm originally from a very small town in West Tennessee where I rode horses, played volleyball and tennis and drove on back roads. I was the editor of my yearbook staff for two years but when I graduated high school and enrolled at Murray State University in Kentucky, I was undeclared and quite frankly had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I went from a town where everybody knew everybody to a place where I felt completely alone. I always knew I enjoyed design, writing, and art but I never quite figured out how to make a career out of that. I felt so lonely that I considered dropping out until my dad, who has been a free-lance photographer since he was 16 years old, invited me to help him take pictures on the sidelines of a Tennessee Titan's football game in Nashville. I had played with cameras my whole life because of him, but never took the time to actually pay attention to what I was doing. I reluctantly agreed to go and had a BLAST, and to my surprise, the pictures didn't turn out half bad. After that night, he suggested I declare my major in the Public Relations field and get a minor in Photography, and boy, I'm sure glad he did!

Throughout my college experience, I worked for the MSU News, the Athletic Department, the Branding and Marketing Department, and the Presidential Office, doing all sorts of photoshoots for the campus. I started photographing my friends as they graduated and even some seniors from my high school back home started hiring me. It wasn't long before lifelong friends started getting engaged and asked me to do their wedding. I enjoyed photography as a part-time hobby but the more I did it, the more I fell in love with the whole process of it.

That night I almost dropped out of college was almost 5 years ago, but now I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and Photography from Murray State University & I happily expanded my dream here to Nashville!

Since moving to Nashville, God has continued to bless this business. I've photographed several album covers, I've continued to shoot on the sidelined of NFL Titan's games and I even photographed a destination wedding in Yosemite National Park in California. Photography for me is something that basically started as an accident, and now it's become my life and I'd love to share this wonderful gift with you!
